How to get cheap tickets
Book tickets online
Gate prices are usually higher (this is especially true for popular attractions). Beat the box office queue and book online.
Book in advance
Festivals in particular offer early bird/presale discounts. This may mean booking a summer music festival in the winter.
Avoid extra fees
Check if there are any fees added to the face value of the ticket. Use the print at home service if it is available and free. Print at home services will also prevent your tickets getting lost in the post.
Avoid secondary ticketing sites and touts
Buy tickets before they sell out. Secondary ticket websites may charge multiple times the face value of the ticket and some touts/scalpers sell fake tickets.
Book a package deal
Purchase a deal with multiple attractions or with added extras. These tend to be better value for money.
Get a group discount
Look out for 3 for 2 and similar offers. Groups of ten or more can usually get a discount for west end theatre tickets.
Discounts are sometimes available if you are over 60, registered disabled, unemployed or a full-time student.
Earn a ticket
Some events offer free tickets to volunteers who help with setting up or promoting an event. Check out Oxfam Stewarding.
Win a ticket
Enter TV, radio and social media contests. Subject to competition rules, you may be able to boost your chances by entering multiple times. Stay up to date with any promotions by following your favourite band/event on social media.
